CNY Gathering in SG Day 2 🎆

By Minyi

Breakfast time~~~ (actually brunch) is almost 11am. Hungry die my dad haha, luckily I gave him a pack of Meiji chocolate biscuits before we departed. He said he never eats his breakfast that late~~

Sungei Road Laksa (this pic is actually an old picture, because I was too hungry so I had no time to take a picture). I guess my dad really likes hawker food, before I queued for the laksa he had already gone and ordered chai tow kway, luckily it tasted okay lah.

After that, we walked to Berseh Food Centre for my favourite kopi, mana tau the shop was closed for 2 weeks, probably for a holiday, shioknya. So, we just simply ordered a drink and sat down for a while.

After kopi, we took a bus to Bugis Junction for a walk just to spend some time there and wait for lunchtime. So today’s lunch is at Maxwell Food Centre. There were many angmohs there, my husband said most of the angmohs only know about Maxwell Food Centre and Lau Pa Sat in Singapore.

We reached there about 2pm, it was still crowded, I can’t imagine the crowd during lunch hour. There were so many choices of food to pick from. I asked my husband what is the recommended food in this hawker centre. He said there’s no specific stall and every stall is not bad, you just pick any stall you’re interested in. I was like WHAT??? There must be some stalls that are famous what.

So he said Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice and he said it is not a must to queue for that. So I just believed him. So I didn’t queue for that. I just bought bak chor mee, at first I saw popiah but I thought I would get it later lah, I bought my main dish first. Coincidentally, my husband bought me the popiah haha.

My mum bought fish soup with bee hoon, she said it was not bad and the fish pieces were very big. Me and my mum had almost finished the food, but my dad still hadn’t come back. Aiyo, what’s going on? We guessed he couldn’t make a decision because there were too many choices haha. In the end, he bought herbal mutton soup, hmm not my type.

Remember what my husband said about not needing to buy that chicken rice? In the end, he bought the chicken rice, I was like, “you said no need to queue for that chicken rice what, then why did you buy it?” My husband said, “I was scared you would nag me forever so I just bought it lo.” After tasting the chicken rice, it was really nice lei… I said, lucky you bought it, if not, I think I really would nag you forever haha 😂

If we followed the plan, we would go to Nesuto for our teatime. But me and mum were really full and we said we couldn’t take anymore, maybe we should just take away? Then my husband said, we purposely came to this area because of this cafe. We promised my mum we would bring her to a cafe in Singapore.

So we followed the plan and went to the cafe. The cafe is within walking distance from Maxwell. At first me and mum said one piece of cake would be enough for us, my husband said choose one more piece lah, it will have a variety of tastes. So I just followed what he said. In the end, we finished all the cake OMG. My husband really knows me and my mum very well 😅. We always have another stomach for dessert haha.

My husband didn’t want to show his face 😒

After teatime, we went home and took a nap. (so tired)

Dinner time, we ordered Pizza Hut online. One regular pizza, one thin crust and 14pcs of honey roasted chicken wings. My mum liked it very much. 😘
